Kogi govt awards N1.4bn contract for 500 houses

Kogi state government has awarded contract for the construction of 500 housing unit at the cost of over N1.4 billion.
The Commissioner for Information and Home Affairs, Alhaji Yabagi  Bologi, who disclosed this to newsmen shortly after the state executive meeting yesterday, said the tender board had approved the construction of 500 housing units at over N1.4 billion to four competent companies.

He added that 300 of the houses would be located in Lokoja, the state capital, while the remaining 200 would be spread across the 20 local government areas, noting that the houses comprised one, two and three-bed room flat.

Bologi, who said the contract would be financed  by the proceed of the bond obtained by the state government, added that the contract had been awarded to FAKOJO property limited, HACOSA construction company, SAMA international service limited and DORINA Nigeria Limited at the cost of N353,504,588 :40K each.

He disclosed that the contract for the award of Kabba township road had been award to EEC International Limited at the contract sum of over N289 million, while that of Ankpa township road was also awarded to TEC Engineering Limited at the cost of over N642 million with a completion period of four months.

Bologi said the state government had concluded arrangement to collaborate with Bio-ethanol Company, Brazil in the area of conversion of cassava into ethanol for domestic use as cooking fuel, adding that the effort would go a long way in reducing the incessant deforestation activities in the state.
