Kogi guber: AAP drums up support for Bello’s re-election

Ahead of the November 16 governorship election in Kogi state, the Advanced Allied Party (AAP) has thrown its weight behind incumbent Governor Alhaji Yahaya Bello.

Addressing newsmen Tuesday at the party’s national secretariat in Abuja, National Secretary of AAP,  David Oscar Kalu said  the party is in coalition with other political parties in order to achieve the reelection bid of Bello.

He said: “The leadership of AAP, also known as the Golden Spoon Party, met and agreed to drum up  support and form a coalition of political parties in support of the re-election of Governor Bello.

“We are also forming a coalition of political parties, championed by AAP, to declare our unalloyed support for the governor. We have liaised with more than 30 political parties and they are willing and ready to join in our coalition to support the youthful governor. Majority of them have gubernatorial candidates like we do.

Also speaking, the publicity secretary of the party, Rikki Chinedu Nwajiofor, said the decision of the party to support Bello’s re-election is based on the party’s ‘ontological mission’.

“The support is a decision the party took, based on its ontological mission, which craves to see the youths and young Nigerians be at the helm of affairs in the political terrain of this great nation. GSP believes in the fact that the youths and young persons in Nigeria should be involved in the mainstream of Nigerian politics,” he said.

Speaking on former AAP’s gubernatorial candidate in the election, the state chairman of the party, Onoja Samson said he has since stepped down for the state governor.

“Yes, we had a gubernatorial candidate. However, having x rayed the works of the governor and his passion for the youths, the party’s candidate has stepped down for the governor, in line with the party’s consensus decision,” he said.
