Ex-NBA President joins Kogi guber race… promises to prioritise education, health , security, others

A leading governorship aspirant on the platform of the People Democratic Party (PDP) in Kogi state, Dr Idris Omede, has promised to invest in education, health, agriculture , security and provision of basic necessity of life to the people ,  if given the mandate to serve the state.

Omede who stated this on Saturday in Lokoja during the inauguration of local government coordinators for Omede Idris Believe 2019 Project ,  said the state has abundant human and natural resources that is capable of developing the state if well harnessed.

According to him “Kogi state is endorsed with both human and natural resources, the state is a gateway to many states in the country, the state also have the two prominent rivers in the country and all these are indices of development that can increase revenue generation of the state rather than over taxing petty traders .

“We are going to explore all the areas of economic development without exploiting anybody. Agriculture is very key to any administration; we will give it maximum attention.

“Kogi state supposed to be crop processing zone to create jobs and generate enormous revenue for the state , we will  involve Bank of Agriculture and Dangote group to achieve this laudable plan.

Omede who was a former Commissioner for health in the last administration and a former NMA President noted that he is aspiring to be governor of the state to add value to the foundation laid by the founding fathers of the state , stated that he will provide basic things that will give people dignity, honour, integrity and value to humanity.

“Our drive is to make the state far from where we met it in terms of increase in infrastructure and human capital development.

“We are here to ask our friends, Kogi people far and near, within and outside and lovers of Kogi state to give us their mandate to take over the affairs of the state for a while and see surprise in the area of good governance that will guarantee  transformation of  the state from it present piteous condition”

The coordinator for Okene, Yusuf Bello, in his remark, said God almighty had blessed Kogi state, noting that what was left for the state is quality leadership.

Bello described Dr Omede as a leader that has made his mark in the medical profession, assuring that they will rally round him to pick the ticket of the party and win the general election for PDP.
