As the 2019 Kogi State Gubernatorial election draws closer, those seeking the position have commenced wider consultations and strategic contacts to win delegates to the primaries and supporters for the main elections.
One of the gubernatorial hopefuls and strongest aspirants of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Kogi State, Major General Patrick Ademu Akpa who was the former commandant of Nigeria Defence Academy, Kaduna and a one-time Military Secretary has commenced meet-the-delegates tour to further solidify his support across the 21 Local Government Areas of the state.
The tour started in Koton Karfe, Kogi Local Government Area, with a visit to the traditional ruler and Chairman Koton Karfe Emirate Council, the Ohimege of Koton Karfe, Alhaji Abdulrazaq Isa Koto, to seek for his royal blessings.
The Hope Agenda Campaign Team led by the team lead, Abdulsalam Leader was warmly received by the royal father who prayed for the success of the aspirant and wished him good luck.
In Lokoja local government area, the campaign team visited the Maigari of Lokoja, Muhammadu Kabiru III, to seek for his royal blessings before proceeded to meet the party executives and wards coordinators in a town hall meeting in Lokoja. The monarch admonished Gen. Akpa to keep to his words and wished him the best in his aspiration.
In Idah LGA, the story was not different as the campaign team paid courtesy visit to the Attah of Igala, Dr Micheal Idakwo Ameh Oboni. The campaign team was received at the palace by a mammoth crowd. The royal father warmly received the campaign team and call on the aspirant, whom he called his son to put Kogi first in his aspiration.
He said the Aspirant has impacted the people positively while in the army and he prayed that the land will fight for Gen. Akpa and wished him good luck.”
Also in Idah, while at the residence of the Catholic Bishop of Idah diocese, The Bishop, Most Revered Anthony Adaji described Akpa as a general you could trust, he urged the team members to support him for the realisation of the HOPE Agenda.
The Director of support group, Mr. Ibrahim Idakwo who spoke at all the meetings said, Gen. Akpa remained the best aspirant in APC and in the state. He said the Aspirant is bold, fearless and a purpose-driven person. Gen Akpa Completes Tour of Kogi LGAs.
The head of the media team, Pastor John Desmond, said they had seen in Gen. Akpa the qualities required to move Kogi state to enviable height as governor of Kogi state. He said Gen. Akpa is man of integrity and someone with a great heart.
In all the areas visited, Gen. Akpa said, he was in the race for governorship to bring about immense transformation and change the fortune of the state, assuring that he would pursue unity and good governance.
He promised to carry all people along irrespective of ethnic, tribal, religious and political inclinations if elected.
