Kogi hospitals urged to train staff on human relations

Health service providers in Kogi state, especially government hospitals, have been charged to invest vigorously on the training of their workers in the area of human relations to enhance high productivity.
Management consultant of O and M Associate, Alhaji Mohammed Aliyu who gave the charge in Lokoja yesterday during a workshop organised by the Federal Medical Centre (FMC), Lokoja for nurses and other health workers of the centre.
He said the workshop was organised to enhance the human capital development and human relations of the staff for effective service delivery.
The theme of the workshop, “Enhancing Human Relations and Effective Service Delivery” was timely considering the role played by workers in ensuring the revival of patients.
“The patients in most cases passé through high level of agony as a result of human relation on the side of the health providers. Some of the patients are most often than not, sent to their early grave due to improper attention arising from the human interaction which not given to the patients.
“The essence of this workshop is to draw the attention of the staff of federal medical centre, Lokoja to all the inadequacies that have been hampering the good relationship between the health workers, nurses and the patients and how best such can be addressed,” he said.
In a paper presented by Dr J.O Fayeye titled, “Evolution of Human Relations in Work Place,” the expert said every patient seeking healthcare in hospital had the belief that he would go back home healthy and happy, lamenting that the attitude of some healthcare providers both in public and private sectors aggravated the pains of the patients.
