Kogi Journalists Forum yesterday lauded the efforts of Kogi state Governor, Alhaji Yahaya Bello, and other stakeholders in settling the protracted impasse that had bedeviled the Kogi state House of Assembly, while tasking the political leaders on development of the state.
Speaking in a statement jointly signed by Chairman and Secretary, Chief Olu Ajayi and Baba Negedu, respectively, the Forum, who expressed worries over the political hullabaloo in the state, said with the resolution of the impasse the state should now be set for development and progress.
The statement read in part:

“After looking at the prevailing situation and the efforts of Kogi state Governor, Alhaji Yahaya Bello in settling the protracted impasse that had bedeviled the Kogi State House of Assembly, we deemed it necessary to commend all the stakeholders for their  efforts in ensuring that peace returned to the political landscape of the state.

“Disagreements are part of politics, but how they are handled by the political actors determine the caliber of persons involved and their capacity to show whether they mean well for the people or are only interested in fighting for their personal aggrandisements.
“We commend the political leadership in the state under Governor Bello for listening to the cries of the people and allowing the voice of reason to prevail. The Governor has again shown that he is a leader with a large heart and is ready to tackle head-on the mirage of problems that have continued to slow development in the state.
“Now that the political gladiators have settled their differences, we urge them to settle down for real business of development.
“The members of the state Assembly must realise that they are representatives of the people, who must have the interest of the people at heart, the same way their deliberations should be geared towards solving the level of the excruciating pains being suffered by the ordinary Kogites due to the under development in the state.”
