The Joint Action Union (JAC) of Local Government workers in Kogi State have out rightly rejected the 25 and 30 percent salary paid to local government workers by the state government.

JAC which consists of three unions – Nigeria Union of Local Government Employees (NULGE), Nigeria Union of Teachers (NUT), Medical and health workers union of Nigeria ( MHWUN), Nigeria union of Pensioners (NUP) and the Non Academic Staff Union (NASU) disclosed  this at the end of their state administrative council meeting held in Lokoja on Saturday.

Lamenting on the way and manner the Local government workers are being treated by the government, the union stated that the state government failed to meet the demands of local government workers despite collecting April and May allocations from the Federal Government.

The union also observed that local government pensioners received between 35 to 50 percent salary saying “workers in the local government were expecting something better from what they have been collecting in the previous months”

They urged the state government to do the needful as workers at the grassroots have been facing untold hardship for several months, described as worrisome the percentage payment of workers salary putting into cognizance the economic hardship of the country.
