Kogi monarch kidnapped, son killed

The traditional ruler of Jakura community in Lokoja local government area of Kogi state, Chief Usman Ajibola, was on Tuesday evening kidnapped, while his son, Rufai Ajibola, was killed by yet-to-be identified gunmen.
Sources in the village told Blueprint that the traditional ruler and his son were returning from Oworo town when the kidnappers attacked them between Imoo and Ibola communities about 15 kilometers to Jakura town.
The abductors numbering about five according to the source attacked the traditional ruler around 7pm on Tuesday and whisked him away, just as his son Rufai who was struggling to rescue his father was killed in the process.
The monarch and the driver, Mr.
Raphael Ilaja, were kidnapped by the gunmen and taken to an unknown destination.
Confirming the incident, the Police Public Relations Officer of the Kogi state police Command, Mr.
William Ayah, said the Command was already on the top of the situation, adding that the corpse of the prince had been taken to one of the hospital mortuaries in Lokoja.
