Kogi partners group empower women, girls

The Kogi State government has assured of its readiness to partner with Nigerian Women Economic Development (NigWED) Project to empower women and girls in the state.

Special Adviser on Women Affairs to the Kogi State Governor, Asmau Gogo Kabir, gave the assurance when she hosted the African Industrialisation Group-AI-Group Inc Canada & Ethiopia in Lokoja, recently.

Gogo Kabir said her focus is on financial and economic programmes for women and girls through the NigWED Project.

The project is expected to cover a 3-year period (2023 to 2025).

According to her, 10,000 micro-businesses for women and girls, 1,000 POS for women and girls, 100,000 women agro-farmers cooperatives, 100,000 social supports for women and children and girls’ education, engagement and empowerment (G3E), and 100,000 women and girls on political participation, would be impacted by the project.

Speaking, Group Chief Executive of AI-Group, Prof Carl Oshodi assured the special adviser of AI-Group’s willingness to explore its technical partnership with the African Union and International Development Partners mobilize competent and capable private sectors to work with NigWED Project to upscale economic and financial inclusion programmes for women and girls led-social enterprises to be socially responsible.

SEEED Multipurpose Cooperative Society currently provide technical assistance and support to the Federal Ministry of Women Affairs to upscale economic empowerment for social responsibility through women financial and economic inclusion in Nigeria, which informed the development of the Nigerian Women Economic Development (NigWED)

Project, as a collaborative platform for women and girls.

Director General for NigWED Project, Lugard Okonobo who doubles as President of SEEED Cooperative, said NigWED Project seeks to expand women economic development through financial and economic inclusion in Nigeria on the strength of partnership, innovation and technology with financial inclusion and bilateral partnerships at the core of the implementation process towards achieving a set target for 1,000,000 women and girls as beneficiaries for Cash and Kind over a 6-year period.
