An acclaimed man of God, Pastor
Oluwasegun Otaru of the Voice of Canaan Temple C&S Aladura Church, based in Ozuri alongside two others in Adavi local government area of Kogi state have been arrested for allegedly killing a sex worker from a popular Brothel called Hollywood in the council area.
The victim Mercy Moses a native of Benue state was said to have been lured by the two accomplices Samuel Oluwasegun of Uruvucheba, Adavi and Abdulmumini Yakubu of Ozuri area having collected the sum of N5,000 and took the lady to Pastor Otaru for voodoo rituals.
It was gathered that after two days when Mercy did not return, the brothel manager, one Mohammed Musa reported the disappearance of Mercy to Adavi Police Station where the case was transferred to the State CID, Lokoja.
The two suspects, Samuel and Yakubu were arrested but they denied knowledge of Mercy’s whereabouts.
However, following interrogation by the Homicide Detectives of the State CID, the two suspects opened up to the gory details of how they were hired by one Pastor Oluwasegun Otaru of The Voice of Canaan Temple C&S Aladura Church, Ozuri to bring a female for ritual purposes with a promise of N700,000.
The arrested suspects thereafter led the police to an area called Uhodo also in Adavi where the remains of Mercy Moses was buried in a shallow grave.
Upon exhuming the corpse, it was discovered that vital organs and head of the victim have been taken away by the Pastor.
The police in a well scripted move was able to track and arrest Pastor Otaru who had since the arrest of his accomplices, fled the neighborhood.
Meanwhile the exhumed remains of the victim was deposited at Okene General Hospital mortuary for autopsy.
The Administrator of Adavi LGA, Hon Joseph Omuya Salami who accompanied the Police to the scene of the crime, described the act as the highest level of wickedness, stressing that such inhuman act is an abomination to any religion.
According to him “Ritual killing is non biblical, unacceptable and should be totally condemned, and anyone that involved in such act must face the full wrath of the law.
He commended the D.P.O and other security agents for the efforts in curbing crime in the local government.
Confirming the incident, the Police Public Relation Officer Mr Williams Ayah said the police had commence investigation into case, assuring that the culprit will not go Scot free.
