Kogi poly to establish aerospace engineering dept

Kogi State Polytechnic is set to partner with the National Airspace and Development Agency (NADA) to establish a department of aerospace engineering.
Its Rector, Prof. Idowu Ajibero, who disclosed this yesterday while signing a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the agency, said a consultant had been engaged to design a building for the new department which, according to him, will take off by next academic session.

He said the polytechnic had been repositioning all its engineering courses by ensuring that the courses were accredited by the National Board for Technical Education (NBTE), pointing out that the institution had procured equipment worth more than N200 million through the assistance of TETFUND to enhance the productivity of the courses.
Earlier, the Director General of the agency, Prof. Saidu Onalo, said the partnership was aimed at providing manpower for Ajaokuta Steel Company and other industrial sectors in the country.

Onalo, who noted that the partnership would also benefit other states in the country, pointed out that airspace was the quickest way of fast-tracking development in the world.
He commended Governor Idris Wada for his development efforts in the education sector.
