Kogi student develops mechanical excavator

A 21-year-old 300-level student of Electrical/Electronic Engineering in the University of Agriculture, Makurdi, Joseph Julius Chubiyo, has developed a new innovative mechanical device from scraps.

Julius, an indigene of Ajaka in Igalamela/Odulu local government area of Kogi state, in a chat with this reporter appealed for support.

“This prototype is designed similar to the real excavator in the market, but the slight difference is in the fact that my innovative excavator is energy-efficient compared to the former. He is desirous of building the excavator without using diesel, but with solar system,” he said.

According to him, the workings of the excavator are based on the principles of Pascal Law of Hydraulics.

“It consists of a complete gear system in form of a piston assembly and the prime driver is based on fluid flow dynamics.”

Julius disclosed that he had been crying out to those in positions of authority to identify his talent which would lead to the economic development of the nation.

He said further that he was also working on a helicopter project, a local air-conditioner and a water level alarm, but that he had financial challenges which had their completion.
