Chairman, Association of Table Water Production (ATWP), Kogi state, Alhaji Alimi Olaruwaju Oyetoke, has charged members of the association on hygiene and quality to avert any water borne diseases in the state.

Oyetoke, who gave the charge in Lokoja yesterday during the association meeting, said the entire population of the state consumed table water; hence the need for total adherent to all the rules and regulations of NAFDAC as it concerned hygiene.

According to him, “owners of the table water factories in the state should endeavour to keep their environment clean, the filters and the modules should be subjected to periodic checking cleaning and washing.”

The chairman, who also appealed to tax agents in the state on double taxation of members of the association, noted that the levy, if too high, would be difficult for members to pay.

“We are not unaware of the importance of revenue to the state government, but the rate should be affordable and payment should be in instalments as business activities have dropped drastically in the state.

While calling on table water producers to cooperate with government in the area of prompt payment of taxes, Oyetoke urged those “who are in the business, but not yet register with the association to do so in order to avoid sanctions.”
