Korea-Nigeria relations: KCCN celebrates 40th anniversary

The Korean Cultural Centre of the Embassy of the Republic of Korea is celebrating 40th anniversary of Korea-Nigeria relations.

To this end, the centre is organising Online screening of Hanyang & Seoul Traditional Orchestra on Tuesday October 6, 2020.

The screening exercise is taking place less than one after Nigeria celebrated its 60th Independence anniversary.

Talking about the import of this year’s event, KCCN Director, Lee Jin Su, in a press statement on Monday said, “This year marks the 40th anniversary of Korea – Nigeria diplomatic relations. To commemorate the anniversary, the Korean Cultural Centre in Nigeria will be screening four different music and dance performances in the month of October 2020.

“Beginning from October 6th, 13th, 20th and 27th, the performances will be streamed online on each day to celebrate the establishment of diplomatic ties between the Republic of Korea and the Federal Republic of Nigeria. The performances can be viewed online only during the allotted period of screening.”

On what Hanyang and Seoul Traditional Orchestra represents, Jin Su, said, ” ‘Hanyang and Seoul’, which has been shown every year since 2014, is a representative brand performance of the Seoul Gugak Orchestra. It features ‘Seoul’ as the keyword and has impressed audiences with originality and various contents.

“A performance by the Seoul Traditional Music Orchestra titled ‘Hanyang and Seoul’ This performance is not only filled with Korean traditional melodies, but it also paints the image of Hanyang during the Joseon Dynasty to Seoul, Korea as we know it today.

“The story of “Yesterday, Today and Tomorrow” of Seoul, the city of culture and art is told, filled with stage concerts and interesting scenes in which sand art and videos flow.”
