Kuje cleric charges FG on equipment for security operatives

 

A cleric, Deacon Amos Gbadegesin Adeniyi, has urged the federal government to upgrade the equipment used by security operatives, saying this would enhance their efficiency in the discharge of their duties.
Deacon Amos of the Christ Apostolic Church (CAC), Palace of Healing, Chukuku, in Kuje area council made the call on Wednesday while speaking to our correspondent in Kuje.
He particularly called on the government to allocate more resources to security to upgrade the equipment of security agents, especially the police, adding that the provision of modern equipment and adequate training would enhance efficiency.
According to him, the police and its personnel “lack observatory skills and they must go back for a proper training programme that would give them the mental alertness required to be able to keep tap on criminal gangs.”
He said “we must admit 90 per cent of our security personnel are not committed to their duties.”
Adeniyi said security of lives and property should be given priority by the government, even as he called for a special training to equip the police and other security agencies to enable them to identify criminals.
The cleric also urged the government to investigate the recent killings and attacks in some part of the country with a view to bringing those behind it to book.
He charged the Immigration service to devise electronic measures to fight illegal immigrants, nothing that recent attacks could be linked to foreigners.
According to him, “our immigration officers do not have the capacity to man our borders and many foreigners do come in unnoticed.”
“We have influx of foreign nationals from neighbouring countries like Chad, Cameron, Niger and Ghana who come into Nigeria unnoticed. Government must provide more funds to security agencies responsible for border securities, especially the Immigration and the Customs, to use modern electronic devices to man the nation’s borders,” he said.
He commended Buhari administration for fighting corruption and insurgent in the country.
