Kwali speaker commends FCTA for prompt release of allocations in 2020

The Speaker, Kwali Legislative Assembly, Mr. Daniel Nuhu Kwali, has commended the Federal Government and the FCT Administration for ensuring prompt release of revenues allocations to the six area councils of the territory last year.

Daniel Nuhu stated that although the funds were not sufficient to meet all the needs outlined, the area councils have judiciously utilised the allocations provided for development projects.

He commended the leadership qualities of Kwali Chairman, Mr. Danladi Bomboie Chia, especially for ensuring peaceful relationship between the executive and the legislature by carrying the lawmakers along in policy matters.

The speaker assured that in 2021, the council would pursue the enthronement of peace among the various communities and the empowerment of youths to curb restiveness among the young people.

He promised that the implementation of the budget will be closely monitored to ensure that funds allocated for projects are properly utilised in a transparent manner.

“We want to encourage youth empowerment through entrepreneurship in this area council to make our youth productive and reduce dependence on government jobs,” he said.

He said the performance of the 2020 budget was affected by COVID-19 and destructions from the #EndSARS protests which eroded the gains from the budget.

Nuhu Kwali commended the courage of politically conscious youths who have indicated interest to contest elective positions in the FCT elections scheduled for next year.
