Kwankwasiyya Foundation offers Kano indigenes scholarships

The Kwankwasiyya Foundation in Kano state Friday offered scholarship to nine indigene students to study second degree in Sudan and Dubai.

Addressing the students shortly before their departure in Kano, a former governor of the state, Dr. Rabiu Kwankwaso, said the beneficiaries were the last batch of the 370 students sponsored by the Foundation to study for master’s degrees in India and other countries across the globe.

“This is a historic day for us because it is in fulfilment of our promises to continue to sponsor women and youths to further their studies,” he said.

Kwankwaso, who charged them to face their studies with seriousness, also urged them to be good ambassadors of the state and the country while in Sudan and Dubai.

According to him, the Foundation has already paid their school fees, accommodation, feeding and pocket money in order to make them comfortable to enable them to face their studies squarely.

Also speaking, the PDP governorship candidate in 2019 general elections, Alhaji Abba Kabir-Yusuf, urged the students to be good ambassadors of the Kwankwasiyya movement, Kano state and Nigeria, adding that “anyone of them who does something bad will not go scot free.”

“Foundation will monitor your performance in the schools.”

The representatives of the parents in their separate remarks, Alhahi Tahir Abdullahi and Hajiya Salamatu Aliyu, commended the Foundation for the gesture.

Also speaking, a renowned Islamic scholar in the state, Sheik Ibrahim Daurawa cautioned the students against acts capable of denting the image of the state.

Blueprint learnt that out of the nine beneficiaries, seven would study for second degrees in Islamic Studies and Arabic Language in Sudan, while the remaining two would study Business Administration in Dubai.
