Kwankwasiyya group flooding social media with fake pictures to discredit guber election- Kano govt

Following the just concluded governorship rerun election in Kano, the state government has accused a pro-Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso group known as Kwankwasiyya of posting various violence-related pictures witnessed in parts of the country on social media platforms in a bid to paint rerun election bad.


A statement signed on Sunday by the commissioner for Information, Youth and Culture, Malam Muhammad Garba, said the supplementary election which they said witnessed large turn out of voters and adjudged as most peaceful, “is being dismissed by the Kwankwasiyya group.”

The government’s spomesman said even before the election the group had allegedly unleashed terror on innocent citizens in order to scare them away from exercising their franchise.

“Since yesterday, members of the group have been posting and sharing gory pictures of violence in an effort paint black the peaceful and orderly election in Kano. Some of this pictures were shots from the Jos crisis in Plateau state”, the statement adds.


The commissioner therefore called on the public to ignore such postings awash on platforms such as Facebook, Twitter, Instagram etc.

The statement also urged the people and particularly members of the APC to remain calm and await the outcome of the election.
