A chieftain of the All Progressives Congress(APC), Arch. Aminu Abubakar Dabo, has confirmed that Senator Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso was still a card-carrying member of the party, despite the reports being bandied about in the media that he was set to defect to the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).
Speaking to newsmen in Kano yesterday, shortly after receiving the former governor of Kano state, Malam Ibrahim Shekarau, when he paid him a courtesy visit to the Health College, Kano, Dabo said the Kwankwaso had never taken such decision, and that there was no formal consultation held on the matter.
He said the “issue of Senator Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso defecting to another party at this material point in time was never discussed at any meeting as erroneously reported in the media,” but added that “one should not rule out the possibility of speculation, since the country is currently operating a democratic system.”
Dabo said he had taken the decision to establish the College to “bridge the huge gap created as a result of the inadequacy of colleges running health courses in the North-western part of the country,” stressing that the college was purposely established to compete with its sisters across the nation.
Speaking earlier, Shekarau said he was highly impressed by the giant strides made by the college, and the “stunning pace with which it has made positive impact on the future of youths willing to excel in their fields of professional endeavour.”
