Kwara COE students protest lecturers’ salary arrears

Students of the Kwara State College of Education, reportedly took to the street in Ilorin to protest the sixmonth salaries the state government is owing their lecturers.
The protesting students, according to reports, started the protest from their campus to Ibrahim Taiwo Road, Unity area and to Government House.
Accompanied by men of the Department of State Security, the students carried placards chanting aluta songs and asking the state government to pay their lecturers.
The protest, however, led to crises as men of the Kwara State Command of the Nigeria Police Force reportedly unleashed tear gas on the students, which made them students responded by throwing stones at the policemen.
