Kwara deputy gov wants Ejidike to help improve grassroots sports

In a courtesy visit Thursday to the Kwara state Deputy Governor, Kayode Alabi, the Nigeria Pillar of Sports, Chief Donatus Agu Ejidike, JP, was charged to help improve grassroots sports within the state.

During the brief visit, Chief Donatus Agu Ejidike, congratulated him on his assumption to office, while he also promised to contribute to the development of sport in the state through the grassroots.

“Let me congratulate you on the assumption of office,” Ejidike said.

“I want to also solicit with the government to support the Office of the Pillar of Sports in order to improve sports in the state through the grassroots.  And we intend to start with the Governor’s Cup in His Excellency local government.”

Speaking further, the deputy governor, Kayode Alabi, urged the Nigeria Pillar of Sport to continue to use sports to engage the youth and improve the economy of the state.

“Sport is a means of reducing poverty apart from agriculture.  And I want you to use the department to strengthen the economy of the state and engage the youths positively.”
