Kwara govt explains delay in October salary payment

The Kwara state government Thursday explained the reasons for delay in payment of October salaries to workers in the state even as it said it has just  commenced.

The state commissioner for Communication, Harriet Afolabi- Oshatimehin said the delay was as a result of a platform switch aimed at bringing integrity to its payroll system.

The statement reads, “The state government is aware of some hitches in the payment of salary of civil servants at the state level for October.

“The hitches, and some accompanying issues such as non-deduction of some statutory dues like labour union check-up dues, are due to a change in the payment platform technology/software.

“The whole essence of the platform switch is to ensure more efficiency and integrity of the payroll in the overall interest of the state. Efforts are already being made to address the issues”.
