Mobile Courts set up at strategic locations in Ilorin, the Kwara state capital, at the weekend convicted no fewer than 116 people for sanitation offences during the October month-end sanitation in the state.
The defaulters were arrested and prosecuted for driving, roaming and loitering about among other offences, during the monthly environmental sanitation exercise which contravened the Sanitation Law of the state.
They were convicted and sentenced to fines by Mobile Courts situated at strategic locations in Ilorin, the state capital.
Speaking with reporters shortly after the exercise, the state commissioner for Environment and Forestry, Otunba Taiwo Joseph, while commending the encouraging compliance maintained that Governor Abdulfatah Ahmed-led
administration is totally committed to environmental cleanliness across the state.
He added that with a clean and conducive environment, the visitation to clinics and hospitals would be reduced drastically.
Joseph, who led officials of the Ministry, reporters and some security operatives, said the convicted and sentenced offenders would serve as deterrent to other would-be defaulters.
