Kwara to install 5 transformers for communities

The Kwara State Government said it had concluded plans to install five more transformers in some communities in the state.

This was contained in a statement issued by the Press Secretary to the state’s Ministry of Energy, Mrs . Rukayat Abdulhameed,

According to her, the Commissioner in charge of the ministry, Mr. Abdulwahab White, said the ministry had secured approval to install the transformers in the benefiting communities.

White said the benefiting communities are Oke-Odo and Erin-Ile in Oyun local government, Offa General Hospital in Offa LG; Obbo-Ile community, Palace Area, in Ekiti LG; Oke-Ayewu community, in Shao, Moro LG; and As-Sunnah Kutashi, Tanke Oke-Odo, in Ilorin South local government.

He explained that the approval for the installation the transformers came few weeks after the administration directed the installation of 400 units of solar street lights and 18 transformers in several communities across the 16 local government areas in the state.

White added that the gesture is in furtherance of the government’s commitment to the well-being of the citizens, adding that Governor Abdulrahman Abdulrazaq is sensitive to the socio-economic development in all parts of the state.

“Lack of access to electricity supply slows down economic growth, so our administration will continue to address the issue steadily,” he said.

He urged communities that were still awaiting similar gestures to be patient while government mobilises resources for more transformers.
