Kwara’s ministerial slot: We‘ll accept Allah’s wishes, says AbdulRaheem, ex-FCC boss

Former chairman, federal character commission, (FCC), Professor Shuaib Oba AbdulRaheem, has declared that he would accept whatever appointment offered him to serve in the second term administration of President Muhammadu Buhari.

He said though, he had no control over the clamourers by his supporters that he should be considered for ministerial position in the new cabinet, he would not turn down any offer but would consider it as Allah’s wish.

This is just as a former governorship aspirant in the state,  Alhaji Yakub  Gobir warned that any one going into the new government in the state must be ready to work hard to meet the yearnings and aspirations of kwarans.

The duo spoke with journalists Sunday in Ilorin at the side line of a special Rahmadan prayer organised in honour of the former FCC boss and vice chancellor of the university of Ilorin at his Adewole Residence Ilorin.

The prayer was organised by a socio-political group, Kwara Consultative Forum under the leadership of Alhaji Ibrahim Sani.

Fielding questions from journalists, AbdulRaheem, who was also a former governorship aspirant under the platform of the All Progressive Congress (APC) in the state, said as long as he still exits he would continue to heed the call by his people to serve them in any capacity they want hm.

‘‘So long as one is alive, one should be willing to serve the people in whatever capacity in any other place when the opportunity is there as the peoples servant, one should be ready’’, AbdulRaheem said.

Asked of his take on the clamours by some of his supporters that he should be considered for ministerial position, he responded thus ‘‘I have no control over the wishes and prayers of the people (who are clamouring for my ministerial appointment). We will take whatever Allah wishes and gives to us (in the coming cabinet of President Buhari)’’.

Also speaking, Gobir, assured that he will assume the role of advocates for masses to ensure the success of the incoming administration by ensuring that those who will occupy position of authorities perform creditably.

‘‘Anybody that is going to government and thinks he is going there to sleep does not know what he is doing. Anybody going into government in kwara now must be ready to work hard’’, he said

Coordinator, kwara consultative forum, advised the people of the state to be patient with the incoming government and ‘‘moderate their ambition’’ even as he assured of a better kwara.
