Kyari bags youth’s best police officer award

The National Youth Council of Nigeria (NYCN) Nasarawa state chapter Tuesday bestowed the 2019 Best Police Officer award on the Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP), Abbah Kyari in Abuja.

Chairman, state chapter of NYCN, Comrade Idris Ojoko,

said the youth identified the pace the DCP has set in the security sector for sometime in spite of the challenges, adding that the DCP made the security sector to be taken seriously.

“With people like you are building our confidence in the Nigerian police and sister agencies, that we can sleep with our eyes shut. All of the political zones of this country have benefited from your work of intelligence, including my state and that is why your hard work has fetched you this award of merit,” he said.

Ojoko appealed to the DCP to partner with the youth in order to benefit from the wealth of his knowledge.

Receiving the award, DCP kyari admonmished Nigerians to do their best wherever they find themselves “because hard work speaks for itself.”

“It’s a privilege to be considered best officer in 2019, especially when recognised by the youth. You are the future of the country and you know I was once like you and it is good to know that you are looking up to us.

“You need to have it at the back of your mind that there is no substitute for hard work; one must follow due process and for you to experience greatness, you must put in your best.”

While sharing his experience as a growing up man, he said he struggled through school, fending for himself and other nine younger ones that weren’t all his direct siblings, saying: “Life wasn’t easy for me. At the age of 16, I had to do menial jobs like Okada riding to support myself and half siblings through school, which gave me the courage to take life seriously.”

Kyari, urged the youth to do well to develop themselves, Nigeria and  Africa at large, adding: “Many of the developed youth you find across the shores of this nation didn’t attain great achievement by juju as many think and say but by hard work and competency, which would move the country forward. Wherever you find yourself, do your best with integrity.”
