Even after he lost the last general election, Lawal Adamu Usman, aka Mr LA, who contested the senatorial seat of Kaduna central, has remained close or always in touch with his constituents, reaching out to them for any financial assistance.
While it is typical character of our politicians to abandon the electorate after they have won or lost election, Mr LA has stood tall among his contemporaries. He is just like 5 and 6 among his supporters. Mr LA had ventured into politics out of passion to transform or change the lives of the common man. Through his LA Cares Foundation, Lawal Adamu Usman has uplifted the lives of many youths, orphans and vulnerable people in different capacities. For instance,l ast year, he sponsored or paid WAEC/NECO exam fees for over 200 students in Kaduna state. Widows are not left behind. LA Cares Foundation has identified, selected and trained thousands of widows in skills acquisition like knitting and sewing. After their mandatory training period, the beneficiaries were given start up capital from N200,000 and above to become self-reliant.
Whenever Mr LA visited Kaduna, his house became Mecca of sort, as people troop in their thousands to catch a glimpse and seek one help or the other. Lawal Adamu, a down to earth philanthropist, has never faltered in rendering assistance to people in need.
The graduate of public administration from the prestigious Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria (ABU) has carved a niche for himself in various aspects of human endeavour. He is very accessible to the downtrodden (talakawa). Lawal Adamu Usman has continued to maintain his political structure through frequent visitation and philanthropic gestures. Recently, ss part of his contribution to contain the dreaded Covid-19 pandemic that rocked Kaduna state and the country at large, LA donated food items worth N10 million. The food items which included rice, millet, noodles and oil were shared in all the seven local government areas of Kaduna central. These palliative foodstuffs have assisted greatly towards assuaging the extreme hunger the poor people are subjected to, as a result of the lockdown occasioned by Covid-19 pandemic. In the just concluded Ramadan fasting, he disbursed another batch of food items worth millions of naira to his constituents. These hefty donations neither surprised the good people of Kaduna nor came to them as a joke. In Kaduna state, Lawal Adamu Usman is a new breed politician who is synonymous with compassion. He is a man who loves giving. It may interest you to know, ahead of 2023 election, various political groups within and outside Kaduna central have started drumming support for Mr LA candidature. Some groups are of the opinion that Mr LA should contest for senatorial seat in which he gave his opponent a running battle of his money last election. However, others feel that Mr LA should take a shot at the gubernatorial position.
The widely divergent views being expressed in various quarters cannot be unconnected with his acceptability and rising popularity among the youths in the state. Whichever position he may aspire in the next election, looking at his acceptability and Midas touch, Lawal Adamu Usman is a man to beat.
