Lafia infectious disease control centre ready – Sule

Governor Abdullahi Sule of Nasarawa state has said that the infectious diseases control centre in Lafia would soon be commissioned to begin full operations.

Sule made the disclosure while inspecting the project on Friday in Lafia, the state capital.

The governor explained said the centre would also serve as a research centre.

He said the state government was partnering many organisations including Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC) among others to utilise the centre for the benefit of members of the public.

“So we are in talking terms with partners, who have indicated interest to support us while we play our part to ensuring that the centre becomes fully operational for researches,” he said.

The governor who noted that the project was started by his predecessor, Senator Tanko Al-Makura, said he was happy that the project has been successfully completed.

“We have completed the projects and the surrounding including landscaping, planting of flowers, except the construction of the road leading to the centre,” the governor said.

Sule said NCDC had also promised to establish molecular laboratory for infectious diseases including coronavirus, lassa fever, Ebola among others.
