Health,Youth and Sport, Elders, Environment, Women Affairs, Market, Physical Project, Empowerment, Special duties/Advisory , Media and Publicity Committee.

The committee which is comprised of a chairman, secretary and nine other members each is activated to commence work in the next one week.

Speaking at the inauguration, Hon. Afinni, thanked members of the committees for their roles during the party primaries and general election, adding that their best was yet to come, as their ideas and support are germane to him, “I cannot do it alone.

“I have called upon you today to reveal my programmes to you; you are my partners in progress as I believe in your capabilities. I need your advice; I don’t want to run my programmes at a loss.

“What is the essence of great ideas without competent hands like you to execute it, or running a programme without positive results? I want you all to go round the constituency to listen to the yearnings of our electorates, feel their pulse.

“Let me know their plight and let’s have a round table discussion to solve them. I can’t do it without your support and cooperation.”

The lawmaker commenting on why the committees are that much, harped on the various subsets of the community that forms the constituency and units that has direct bearings on the well being of his constituents as his key focus for qualitative representation.

“The various committees inaugurated today in close view are decisive because every one of them deals with a very important frame or subset of the community; we have the elders, youths, women and even every facet of the community.

“I believe that the best legacy one could give a child is education, on employment and economy, gainful employment would boost our economy and would adequately reverse the common saying that an idle hand is the devil’s workshop.

“Health is another germane one as cleanliness is next to Godliness, as a youth myself, I will be their mouth piece at the state assembly, Sport is also one of my area of concentration as all work and no play makes jack a dull boy.

“On Women Affairs, the people I love most are women because they are the salt of
the world, they also play a pivotal role in our markets as we are all aware, the common saying in Yoruba is “Oloja lonibo,” meaning the market men and women churn out the largest number of votes during the last general election, our elders are also on our radar as we believe if we can take care of our elders definitely the coming generation will look after us too,” he said.

Responding at the gathering, a representative of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the local government area, Mr Kamal Oyeboh, said he was not a supporter of the lawmaker during his jostle for the party’s ticket, but that he was impressed with the committee the lawmakers had just inaugurated.

Oyeboh stated that if the committee could work vigorously in accordance with the good motives of the lawmaker and help him achieve his aim, there was no one that could stop the lawmaker from representing Lagos Island II for five consecutive terms in the state house of assembly.

A  Septuagenarian Community leader, who is also the Head of Gomez Chieftaincy family and Chairman of the Elder Committee,75 years old Mr, Fatai Olatunji,  said  since his involvement in Lagos politics he had never seen any lawmaker with such unique initiative of inaugurating the various committees.

The Chairman of the Education Committee, Mr Ahmed Olaufe, said in a chat with newsmen that members of the various committees should be selfless and render service to the people and tone down personal craving.
