Governor Sule Lamido of Jigawa state yesterday sworn in 25 newly elected local government councils chairmen, and advised them to govern with justice, fear of God, fairness, and equity.
He said those were the attributes and slogans of their party, the PDP, pointing out that he was proud to say that in all the 36 states, Jigawa was the only one that practised democracy “physically and practically.”
The governor maintained that the state had greatly contributed to the development and sustenance of democracy in the country.
He also appointed two sole administrators for Hadejia and Malam Madori local governments whose elections were inconclusive.
He said: “You can see the faces of our people are sparkling because they are happy; this is because what they elected was what were declared.”
The governor also charged the new council leaders to ensure that they fulfilled all campaign promises, pointing out that their positions came through hard work.
He lamented that Nigeria was in the era of political calamity because of lack ideology, honesty, focus, and sincerity of purpose amongst the politicians.
Lamido disclosed that his administration had drafted a 35-year-development plan which captured food security, agricultural development, commerce, educational, development, roads construction, and shelter amongst others for future leaders to implement.
