Landlord arrested for killing tenant’s son

A landlord, Sunday Omosule, has been arrested for allegedly killing his tenant’s four-year-old son, Joseph Akpan, attributing his action to spiritual attack.
The Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO) for Ogun state, DSP Abimbola Oyeyemi, who confirmed the incident in a press statement, yesterday, said Omosule allegedly committed the office at No 23, Adeoye Street, Oko Baale Onipanu Area of the state.
He said Omosule was arrested following a distress call received at the Onipanu Divisional Police Headquarters, that the suspect had gone berserk and was chasing his tenants armed with a pestle.
According to him, the mother of the victim was equally hit with the pestle before the landlord used the same object to hit the boy to death.
He said when interrogated the landlord said he always behaved erratically most times, claiming his action was a spiritual attack.
The statement read in part, “On receiving the information, the DPO Onipanu Division, SP Sangobiyi Johnson led his men to the scene where the suspect was arrested.
“On interrogation, the suspect claimed to be under spiritual attacks which makes him behave erratically sometimes. The mother of the deceased, who also sustained injury, has been taken to the hospital where she is responding to treatment, while the corpse of the victim has been deposited at the State hospital mortuary for autopsy.”
The spokesperson said the case would be transferred to the Homicide Section of the State Criminal Investigation and Intelligence Department for further investigation on the order of the Commissioner of Police in charge of the state, CP Ahmed Iliyasu.
