Landslide kills one, injures 2 in Jigawa

A 27- year-old Surajo Umar of Galamawa in the outskirts of Dutse, was killed while two other persons were seriously injured in a landslide around Jura village in Auyo local government area of Jigawa state.
Confirming the incident in a telephone interview yesterday, the state Police Command Public Relations Officer (PPRO), SP Abdu Jinjiri, said the incident occurred last Sunday when the deceased and two other persons went to the area to fetch sand with tipper truck.
He explained that the incident involved three people, a 37-yearold driver, Mu’azu Wada, a 20-year-old Sa’adu Umar and the deceased, Surajo Umar (27), who died instantly.
Jinjiri said the police rescue team immediately rushed to the place to save the lives of the victims but unfortunately, one was found dead, stressing that the two injured were rushed to Hadejia General Hospital by the rescue team.
He cautioned the general public, particularly those whose professions had to do with digging holes or anything similar, to be careful with their safety at all times.
