Lar pledges commitment to boosting agriculture, fight hunger

The senator representing Kaduna South senatorial district, Danjuma Lar Tela has reiterated his commitment to augment the federal government’s efforts in boosting agriculture and fighting hunger in the country.

The senator made the pledge at the inauguration of Rice Producers, Processors and Marketers (RIPMAN) state and local government executives, which took place at Wonderland Hotel Kafanchan Jema’a local government area of Kaduna state over the weekend.

Senator Lar assured all registered members that the disbursement of loan approved for them would commence this month, and advised them to use it for the purpose of boosting rice production and processing.

He urged the newly inaugurated executives to ensure that people in all the nooks and crannies of the communities benefit from the programme.

The lawmaker also appealed to them to involve women fully, owing to their keen interest in agricultural business.

In a remark, the national president of the association, Alhaji Ibrahim Saleh Sarkin Arewachi, thanked Senator Lar for his kind gesture, assuring that the association would support him to succeed in the gesture.

Alhaji Ibrahim noted that although the association is a national one, it has its roots and fulcrum in Southern Kaduna through the efforts of Senator Danjuma Lar Tela.

While commending the initiators of the programme, he urged all members to reciprocate the federal government’s efforts in providing an enabling environment in order to move the country forward in agricultural development.

Earlier in his address, Kaduna state chairman of the association, Hon Alhaji Hassan Mohammed Ruhogi said the establishment of the association was to boost rice production in Nigeria.

He commended Senator Lar Tela and the national president of the association for their contributions to ensuring that the association was established, nurtured and uplifted to its present level.
