Lawal Kaita’s remains laid to rest

The remains of former governor of Kaduna state, Alhaji Lawal Kai who died Tuesday night in Abuja has been laid at old Dan Marna grave yard in the ancient city of Katsina, in accordance to Islamic injunction.
The body of the late Kaita was conveyed to the Katsina Emir’s palace about 1: 50 pm where the funeral prayer was conducted by Imam Mustapha Abbas around 2: 30 pm before its eventual burial at Tsohon Dan Marna grave yard.
The former Kaduna governor was buried in the same grave yard the former President late Umaru Musa Yaradua was buried, and many prominent Katsina people were in attendance.
The federal government delegation to the funeral prayer and condolence was led by the Minister of state for Aviation, Alhaji Hadi Sirika. Others in the delegation included Minister of Defence, Brig.-Gen Mansur Dan Ali (retired), Special Assistant to the President on Media, Malam Garba Shehu and Permanent Secretary in the
Federal Ministry of Communication, Alhaji Abdul’aziz Abdullahi Mashi.
Speaking at the emir’s palace on behalf of the delegation, Alhaji Mansur Dan Ali described the death of Lawal Kaita as a great loss to the country, the state and his family, praying for Allah’s forgiveness for the deceased.
Among the personalities that attended the funeral prayer included the state deputy governor, Alhaji Mannir Yakubu, Alhaji Sama’ila Isa Funtua, Ambassador Yahaya Kwande, Lamido Adamawa, Barkindo Aliyu Mustapha, former deputy governors, Alhaji Abdullahi Garba Faskari, Alhaji Tukur Ahmad Jikamshi.
Others were Abu Aminu ‘Yar’adua, Senator Abdu ‘Yandoma, Senator Umar Tsauri, Alhaji Dikko Radda, member, House of Representatives, Ahmad Babba Kaita, PDP Katsina State chairman, Alhaji Salisu Yusuf Majigiri.
Alhaji Lawal Kaita was born on the 4th of October 1932. He attended Barewa College, Zaria (1946-1956) and the London School of Economics from 1971-1972.
He was a former Commissioner of Economic Planning (1975-1976), and Deputy Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Works, Kaduna state (1976-1977). He was governor of Kaduna state 1983.
In his condolence, Katsina state governor, Alhaji Aminu Bello Masari described the death of Kaita as a loss to the state, his family and the country at large.
The governor who spoke through his spokesman, Alhaji Abdu Labaran, prayed for forgiveness for the deceased and wished him with Aljanna Firdausa.
