Lawmaker asks FG to expedite action on roads rehabilitation

The member representing Anambra State House of Assembly at the state legislative chamber, Hon. Patrick Udoba, has called on the federal government to expedite action towards completion of Enugu/Onitsha expressway and other federal roads in the state.

Blueprint reports that works which recently begun on some of the roads got stalled for some months due to unknown reason.
Udoba, who is also the Chairman, Anambra state House of Assembly committee on Transportation, said the deplorable condition of most federal roads in the state constitute untold hardship to road users.
According to him, the roads such as  Onitsha-Enugu with spots at Awka, Awkwuzu, Odomodu axis, and Onitsha-Owerri road with spot at Umuoji Onitsha Road, Umueze Anam-Nzam Kogi Roads and others have turned deathtraps and claim lives.

He was emphatic on the Anambra -Kogi road which according to him could take one to Abuja within two hours if rehabilitated, and also help the agrarian communities within the area to transport their agricultural produce to the world.

He said the state House of Assembly had in recent time passed motions and resolutions urging President Muhammadu Buhari-led federal government to hearken to the cries of people of South East by directing the relevant ministries and contractors responsible for the roads to return to site and get the works completed.
