Lawmaker distributes N3m relief materials to Nasarawa IDPs

Member, representing Nasarawa/Toto Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives, Architect Ja’afaru Ibrahim, has donated relief materials worth N3 million to some displaced persons affected by herdsmen attacks in Benue state.

The lawmaker presented the relief materials yesterday to the Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs) camps in Awe and Keana local government areas of Nasarawa state.
He was represented by Barr. Mustapha Galadima, Chairman, Contact Mobilisation Committee of Arc. Jaafaru Ibrahim Campaign Organisation.

He expressed worries over the recent conflict and wellbeing of those affected and displaced, hence the provision of relief materials to alleviate their hardship.
Ja’afaru said the gesture was to complement the efforts already made by the local government authorities hosting the IDPs, the state government and the federal government, with the sole aim of supporting and encouraging the affected persons.

He commended the people of the local government for accommodating the IDPs despite being unprepared and did not anticipate the unfortunate incident that befell them.

The law maker appealed to those affected by the recent crisis to forgive and take solace in God, adding that all that matters now was for them to pick up the pieces of their lives and move on.

Responding on behalf of the displaced persons, President of Tiv Development Association (TIDA), Nasarawa state chapter, Mr. Boniface Ifer, expressed gratitude for the sympathy and generosity showered towards the displaced persons by the lawmakers.
