Lawmaker donates N6m to flood’s victims in Gombe

The Senator representing Gombe North district has donated N6 million to the victims of flood in 6 wards of Dukku Local Government Area of state.

Alhaji Saidu Ahmad Alkali disclosed this while speaking during commiseration visit to Emir of Dukku Alhaji Haruna Rashid, at his palace in Dukku local government area of the state.


The senator said he was at the palace to commiserate with the Emirate and the entire people of the LGA over the recent disaster in the area and surrounding villages.

Alkali prayed for the repose of the souls of those that lose their lives as well as those who lose their properties and God to prevent such occurrence in future.

“I also want to commend Governor Inuwa Yahaya for the N1 million personal donation to the victims of the downpour as well as the directives issued to State Emergency Management Agency (SEMA).

“To assess the level of damage in the affected areas, for prompt intervention,” said Alkali.

Recalled that in August after heavy downpour, flood destroyed property, houses, farms and livestock in Dukku local government area of the state.


In his response, Alhaji Haruna Rashid Emir of Dukku expressed appreciation to the senator for the visit.

He said the gesture was a demonstration of his love and care to his electorates, adding that, the emirate and the entire people of Dukku will forever remain grateful.

The Emir said the downpour affected many areas and so many people were rendered homeless.
