Lawmaker empowers 50 youth, women in Kogi


As part of effort to eradicate youth restiveness and unemployment in Kogi state, the member representing Okene/Ogori-Magongo federal constituency in Kogi state, Hon. Tijani Ahmed Damisa has again  sponsored a five-day capacity building programme in poultry value chain for over 50 unemployed youths and women in the constituency.


The training programme which was held at the Afirms hotel in Okene between June 10 and 14, 2019, was carried out by the federal Ministry of Agriculture, Rural Development and Lake Chad Research Institute Maidururi in collaboration with Emraj Global Services limited.


Addressing participants on behalf of other collaborators at the end of the programme, Dr. Dominic Anogie, of Lake Chad Research Institute, charged the participants to utilize the opportunity created by the lawmaker to improve their  living standard through the knowledge  gained from both the theoretical and practical aspects of the training programme.
“I am urging all of you  to put the knowledge acquired into practice to enable you  succeed and be employers of labour” he advised .


While commending Hon. Tijani Ahmed Damisa for sponsoring the programme , Dr Dominic appealed to corporate organisations and well meaning Nigerians to contribute their quota toward ensuring that youth and women are gainfully engage to reduce some of the social vices that arises due to idleness and unemployment.


Also speaking on behalf of the sponsor, Engr. Abdulazeez Sadiq, expressed happiness over the successful completion of the five days programme and called on participants to put to practice the knowledge they acquired from the training.


The sponsor then charged beneficiaries of the programme to build on whatever little they have been empowered with promising to continue to be of help to them.
Participants at the five days training programme were awarded certificate of participation, after which they were empowered with some cash and starter-pack that included a carton of cockrel, marsh, drinking water pack and drugs for the cockrel.
