Lawmaker empowers 70 petty traders, 50 Kogi farmers 



A member representing Okene/ Ogori-Magongo federal constituency in Kogi state, Ahmed Tijani Damisa, has empowered 50  petty traders with cash. He also empowered 70 farmers with farm inputs.


The empowerment programme  held at Ebira Muslim Community College, Okengwe in Okene local government area of Kogi state was anchored by the Federal Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development in collaboration with Agricultural Research Council of Nigeria (ARCN) and  supervised by  Bibibanks Global limited.


Speaking during the programme Thursday, the Bibibanks Global representative, Professor Omole Adegboye, stated that the farm inputs given to the participants were meant to enhance their productivity and improve their livelihood.


He said the only way crime, youth restiveness and poverty can be eradicated in the society is when the influential individuals assist the less privileged through viable empowerment programmes that can improve their standard of living.


He commended the lawmaker for the financial support and the provision of farm inputs to farmers in Okengwe and Okene communities. 

He charged  the beneficiaries to make judicious use of the items and cash given to them to change their narratives in life.


Also in his address, the representative of Agricultural Research Council of Nigeria (ARCN) Mr Olufade Gbolahan, said agriculture still remain the mainstay of any economic development and  praised  the sponsor of the programme for embarking on a project that has direct impact on the beneficiaries.


In his remark the sponsor, Hon. Damisa represented by Hon. Adams Ibrahim Kadoka, appreciated constituents for their support and care, assuring that he would do more to better their lives through deliverance of dividend of democracy.
