Lawmaker, OYC condemn alleged invasion of Umahi’s residence

A House of Representative member representing Ezza South and Ikwo Federal Constituency of Ebonyi state, Hon. Lazarus Ogbee, has strongly condemned the alleged invasion of the Abuja residence of the Ebonyi state governor, Engr. David Umahi by suspected Policemen.

Ogbee according to a statement issued by his Media Office in Abakaliki, said the attack and plot to frame up the governor was senseless and further called on the Inspector- General of Police, IGP Mohammed Adamu to probe the incident and bring the perpetrators to face the full wrath of law.

He noted that it was unpatriotic for the governor to suffer such invasion and attack when he had served the country on a presidential mission finding lasting solution to the killings orchestrated by clashes by Fulani herdsmen and farmers.

“The invasion and planned attack on the governor is act of cowardice, unpatriotic, uncivil and should be totally condemned. A situation where our leaders will be treated like common criminals has no hope for the civility and stability of our country.

“I call on the Inspector- General of Police to immediately probe the incident and bring all the perpetrators to face the full wrath of the law.

“Governor David Umahi has contributed substantially for the advancement of Nigeria’s democracy and national cohesion by touring all the troubled parts of the country on a national assignment to finding lasting solution to the Fulani herdsmen and farmers clashes and deserves to be accorded national respect and dignity. It should be noted that some people want to frame up allegations against the governor, “Ogbee said.

Similarly, President general of Ohaneze Youth Council (OYC) worldwide Mazi Okechukwu Isiguzoro in a press release vehemently condemned the attack.

He accused top politicians from the Northern region of being behind the activities of Fulani herdsmen in the country.

The statement reads in parts :”Ohanaeze Ndigbo Youth Council Worldwide angrily condemned vehemently the political persecution and blackmail hatched by some corrupt politicians and businessmen who are behind the recent humiliation targeted on the South-east Governors over their recent resolutions to flush out the menace and nefarious activities of herdsmen and the recent ban of pastoralists of conveying cattle on foot had prompted the recent  illegal invasion by unknown policemen on the Abuja residence of South-east Governors Chairman, And Ebonyi State Governor,Engr Dave umahi, with evil intent to plant weapons and ammunition to indict the Governor and blackmail them to reverse their decision on the recent ban of pastoralists

“This is a clear evidence that those sponsoring terrorism in the South-east through the nefarious activities of murderous herdsmen have developed cold feet, met their waterloo as Ohanaeze youths would ensure that the enforcement  of the ban starts immediately and no threat on the Governors will reverse the ban on the pastoralists,” the statement reads.
