Lawyer wants Adesina to resign over ranching comment

A Benin-based legal practitioner, Mr. Olayiwola Afolabi, has petitioned the Special Adviser to President, Mr. Femi Adesina, expressing dismay over what he termed “heartless and irresponsible statement credited to the president’s spokesman over federal government proposed establishment of cattle ranching.
In the letter dated 5th July, 2018 the legal practitioner, Mr. Afolabi asked Adesina to apologise to the families of those who lost their lives as a result of herdsmen attacks and his resignation afterwards.
“I write with so much pain over the careless statement you made while speaking on AIT morning programme wherein you referred to “ancestral attachment” “You can only have ‘ancestral attachment’ when you are alive.
If you are talking about ancestral attachment and you are dead.
How does the attachment matter? “Your statement paints a picture of a government that is willing to sit back and watch hundreds of farmers who have held these lands in question for years and are murdered by armed Fulani herdsmen.
“I do not want to believe that this is the case.
Your insensitive and misguided opinions do not represent the attitude of the presidency towards these acts of terrorism, perpetrated by the so called Fulani herdsmen,” he stated.
