Let solutions be profound, Jerry Gana urges delegates

Former Information Minister Prof Gerry Gana has listed the impediments to a united, progressive and prosperous nation to be the tragedy of poverty, paucity of infrastructure and threat of massive unemployment.

Other impediments listed by Prof Gana also included corruption, the menace of violent crimes, the recidivism of the superstructure which has been imposed on Nigerians pointing out that the superstructure must be re-engineered.

The Haskin Nupe said the conference must not only identify but also be creative and profound in recommending solutions that would surmount these impediments.

He expressed delight that the conference is composed of both younger and older generations stating that if the recommendations were not profound enough, they would be discarded by the younger generation on the ground that the measures were tried before.

The former Information Minister said the occasion was historic and must be approached with the seriousness that it deserved passing a vote of confidence on the delegates as an able gathering capable of confronting the task ahead.
