LG boss tasks KRPC over tenement rate

Chairman of Chikun local government area of Kaduna state, Mr Aliyu Usman Waziri, has called on the management of Kaduna Refining and Petrochemical Company (KRPC) to pay its tenement rate accordingly and help protect the environment.

Speaking during a courtesy visit on the KRPC management in Kaduna, Waziri further expressed dissatisfaction that since he assumed office in December 2012, KRPC had failed to remit the annual tenement rates due to the local government council.
“From our records, KRPC has not remitted tenement rates to the council starting from a period of 2007 to 2013. A total of seven years,” he said.

Responding, on behalf of KRPC management, the Executive Director, Services, Alhaji Idi Mukhtar, thanked the council chairman for the visit, and commended the existing peaceful atmosphere within the host communities.
He, however, said the company would continue to safeguard its environment while taking proactive action to avoid environmental pollution within KRPC’s host communities.
