LG election: Adamawa police to deploy 5,000 officers

Ahead of Saturday local government election Adamawa state police command has assured the people  of its  readiness to ensure a hitch- free exercise throughout the state.

Addressing journalists Tuesday in his office on the command’s preparedness for the election, the state police commissioner, Audu  said the command will deploy 5,000 police officers to all the nook and cranny of the state to man various polling units in the state.

He also stated that the Nigerian Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCD) among other security agencies in the state will also send their personel to compliment the efforts of the police to ensure free and fair election in the state.

According to him, there is no cause for alarm as they have made adequate preparation and put in place effective strategies to ensure that the election is conducted peacefully. 

He advised the candidates and their supporters to conduct themselves peacefully and avoid anything capable of threatening the existing peace in the state.

He said anyone caught breaking the law would be arrested and made to face justice in line with the dictate of the law.

He noted that to further a successful exercise devoid of rancour the command invited the candidates and leadership of various political parties that will participate in the election together with officials of the State Independent Electoral Commisdion (ADSIEC)for round table discussion on how to ensure a successful exercise in the state.
