Ahead of local government council elections scheduled for this week, the outgoing Delta state Commissioner of Police, Mr. Zanna Ibrahim yesterday ordered the restriction of vehicular movements on Saturday, the 6th of January.
The police commissioner, who gave the order said that the restriction would begin from 6am -3pm on Election Day.
However, he said that only those on official and emergency duties with valid means of identification as well as the electorate with permanent voter cards would be allowed passage during the period.
He noted that the restriction order was a security measure tailored towards checkmating movement of mischief makers and political thugs.
The police boss warned that any person or group of persons that foment trouble during the exercise would be arrested and prosecuted in line with the provisions of the law.
Zanna, therefore, advised politicians and their supporters to adhere strictly to the electoral provisions and avoid any conduct capable of causing the breakdown of law and order before, during and after the elections, regretting the inconvenience the restriction order would cause commuters passing Delta State to other states.
