LGAs benefit from NSHIP-AF scheme in Borno

Baseline Quality Assessment Team, comprising officials from the National Primary Healthcare Development Agency (NPHDA), Borno state Primary Healthcare Development Agency (BPHDA) and four local government areas of Biu, Askira/Uba, Kaga and Magumeri, have embarked on physical/services assessment of public and private health facilities in the state.
The team will benefit from the first scale up of the National State Health Investment Project – Additional Financing (NSHIP- AF), intended to improve healthcare delivery services in the state, especially areas seriously affected by the activities of Boko Haram sect.
Borno state Primary Healthcare Development Agency, headed by Dr. Sule Meleh said the agency has disbursed N30.8 million in June this year to 37 primary healthcare centres and three general hospitals in Maiduguri Metropolitan Council (MMC) and Jere LGA as its pilot scheme.
This was in line with performance based financing (PBF), a World Bank assisted project, in collaboration with federal government.
Addressing staff and officials at Biu maternal primary healthcare centre, yesterday, the Director of PHCDA of Biu LGA, Mallam Ibrahim Faruk, commended the foresight of the federal and the state government to key into the initiatives.
