LGs/LCDAs dissolution crisis: Oyo NULGE directs members to stay away from office

As the sacked local government chairmen prepare to resume office,the Nigeria Union of Local Government Employee (NULGE) Oyo state chapter on Saturday directed its members to stay away from work from Monday, January,27 . 2020

NULGE President Comrade BayoTitilola Sodo handed down the directive after an emergency meeting with the union member held at the union secretariat in  Ibadan.

“This directive is from the State Executive Council (SEC) which is the highest authority of the union in the state, we just concluded the SEC meeting, we have earlier had the State Administrative Council (SAC) meeting, we reviewed the situation on ground as unfolded, so far, we follow the outcome from various quarters,” he said.

The Oyo NULGE President added, “we have been getting series of disturbing information from all quarters but we don’t know its authenticity, and we have reason to be apprehensive to the safety of our members in case they go to work and there is a clash between the two parties.”.

“Today, we had a meeting in order to safeguard the lifes of our people and ensure their security, they should keep away themselves from work until the issue is resolved and we know the exalt person we are working for. No NULGE members in Oyo State should be at work by Monday till further notice, and until the unclear situation is cleared and their security and safety is guaranteed.”

Comrade Titilola – Sodo maintained  that there was a similar case few month ago where one party wanted to take over the local government secretariat when other party are still occupying the seat, and there was confrontations where some NULGE member were beaten and injured.
