Like FG, Nasarawa places embargo on school resumption for graduating classes

The Nasarawa state commissioner for education, science and Technology, Hajiya Fatu Sabo, Thursday, said that there was no date for school reopening yet for graduating classes in the state amidst COVID-19.
Hajiya Sabo made this known when she led other management staff of the ministry on the 2020 budget performance before the state House of Assembly Committee on Education, Science and Technology in Lafia.

“For now, there is no particular date yet for school reopening in the state. We are urging principals, students, parents and other stakeholders to take note until official pronouncement on school reopening is made.”
She said the state government is still working hard in creating a safe environment towards schools’ reopening in the state.

“One of the modalities is to first  make the school environment safe for our students, teachers and parents due to COVID-19 pandemic.
“There are lots of things that need to be done before school reopening which include sensitization of students, teachers and parents on COVID-19 protocols.
She however, commended the committee for supporting the activities of the ministry and called for its sustenance.

Chairman, House Committee on education, science and technology Daniel Oga Ogazi, explained that they have invited the ministry in order to assess the ministry’s 2020 budget performance.
He urged the ministry to ensure merit in posting of head teachers and principals for the overall development of the education sector.
