The ‘lion’ and the path he promised

A leader is one who knows the way, goes the way, and shows the way.-John C. Maxwell I woke up this morning to the above quotation, and it got me wondering if the ‘lion’, as his sycophants and his sentimental herd of sheep do call him, knows the way, goes the way, and shows the way.
I supported the ‘lion’ in 2015 based on the assumption that he had a zero tolerance for corruption. The fight on corruption is just business as usual, more media convictions than actual convictions, shabby investigations and with no palpable policy or move to change the tide and really start fighting the monster called corruption that has eaten deep into the fabric of our beloved country. On the said war, the ‘lion’ has shown that some animals are sacred, they are not to be touched; a good example is the treatment the ‘hyena’ from Adamawa got when he took a bite from a carcass he wasn’t meant to have fed on.
They feed on the prey and in the name of welfare and creating jobs throw a few bones (Npower and its likes) to the dogs, while they feed their cubs with the juiciest part (better jobs without following due process) of the prey. Free education, the ‘lion’ and his ‘pride’ (group of lions), danced and swept the streets with brooms roaring.
This way, they seem not to know, so they can’t even show, not to talk of follow. Education has never been as expensive in this country as it currently is. I, for one, am not an advocate of free education; I believe that the government should create an enabling environment, a viable economy in which persons can earn and be able to pay for their own education to any level they desire. Abroad they sang lions won’t send their cubs for education, and a self induced amnesia they’ve gone on this. Death traps we are left with as hospitals.
While the ‘lions’ fly abroad to treat any perceive ailment even if it’s just a rash on the nose. The way to making the hospitals better I know the lions know better than we do for they have seen the best around the globe, but replicating same in this ‘prey’ they seem not to do. Security the lions promised their roar will provide; the cells in the prey cannot sleep with their two eyes closed. An ongoing war is given a political come to an end; they be roaring they’ve defeated Boko Haram tactically or is it technically, I have forgotten the grammar. We wake up to the news of innocent Nigerians being brutally killed by alleged herdsmen or unknown gunmen under the watch of the ‘lion’ and his pride.
Three years down the line the ‘lion’ seems to be wallowing in the bush and has not yet found his path. Roaring he and his pride alongside his set of blind sheep (they baa not roar) that the pack of wolves have done so much damage that can’t be imagined. Most of the alleged pack of wolves have metamorphosed to lions and are now part of his pride and are roaring along. 2019 is close re-election they are roaring and baa-ing about; promises forgotten.
10% of what they promised they can’t boast to have fulfilled. Less than 10/100 to them is a pass. What am I saying, what was I expecting, it’s an animal farm. I am *_E.I Umaru Esq_* … Good governance and accountability I ask for. A good and better Nigeria I want and dream of.
