Lions Club budgets N20m for humanitarian services in FCT 

The 9th President of Kubwa Achievers Lions Club (KALC) under District 404A-Nigeria, Lion Afolayan Sogo Ademola, has disclosed that the club would spend 20 million on humanitarian services in the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) in the new calendar year.

Ademola, who spoke in Abuja over the weekend during his investiture and members of the executives for the 2022/2023 year, mentioned some of the planned projects to include the renovation of dilapidated nursery blocks/classrooms and toilet at the LEA Primary School Kubwa II, Kubwa Village, Abuja, among others.

He said: “It is a privilege to give back to the less privileged, and the core projects of the club include vision, diabetes, childhood cancer, feed the hungry, environment and youth empowerment. I want to let you know the project for the lions’ year for the current executives.

“In continuation of my predecessor’s projects, we take the advice of continuity. Therefore, the projects include renovation of dilapidated nursery blocks/classrooms and toilets at the LEA Primary School, Kubwa II, Kubwa Village, Abuja. Construction of two solar powered boreholes for clean water access at Byazhin and Guidan.”

The District Governor of the Club, Lion Jide Bello, had earlier called on the members of the club to support the new president to actualize his set objective, adding that with a collaborative effort, all the itemized projects for the club’s year would be achieved.

Also speaking, the immediate-past president of the club, Lion  Olanrewaju Adebayo, said during his tenure, the club successfully conducted free diabetic screening and counselling at Kubwa Village Market for over 500 patients, adding that it also provided food items to 309 individuals at Guidan Village, Kubwa, among others.

Speaking with journalists shortly after the event, the Charter President of the club, Lion Prince Adebayo Emmanuel, said love is an important factor for the growth and development of a country, and it shows care for humanity.

The 5th President of the club, Lion Samson Adeniran, on his part, congratulated Afolayan on his election, and urged members to be committed to the course of the organisation.
